But yeah, conversely I shouldn't underestimate your open-mindedness and judgement. Enjoy your week, and your Sunday(s). If Christians expect me to tell my three and seven year old sons that they are such bad people that a man needed to be crucified 2,000 years ago to gain forgiveness for their sins, those christians are crazy. And I will not be telling my children that there is a boogy man out there trying to get them to touch themselves so he can take them to hell. No thank you.

But, by all means, if that is something a person believes, I think it makes total sense for them to run around warning people. I don't have to take them seriously, but at least they're being authentic.

Luckily, I don't think most of us are wingnuts. At least I hope not. My hope is that--as you say--at the end of the day, we're pretty much the same, just trying to make some sense out of life as we go along, stealing small pleasures here and there on the way.

What gave you the impression your thoughts would put a damper on my Sunday? I thought they were totally reasonable.Spencer Troxellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03750605353914336538noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8179545922823777870.post-31233836765325904122009-02-09T09:21:00.000-05:002009-02-09T09:21:00.000-05:00Hmmm. I mean, doesn't he provide political commentary for a cable network? If so, his comments seem a bit self-serving/self-justifying. This idea held by Christians that they're going to "save" me comes across as the height of arrogance. Especially when their own house is so out of order. By the way, I was going to post this comment yesterday, but I wanted you to enjoy your Sunday. And I do think you're right--we as a people have so much in common. The preacher using that clip is not so unusual as you might think. At the end of the day, we're all pretty-much concerned with the same issues and as Americans we get many of our ideas from the same well. We are both more diverse and more similar than we realize.Lodo Grdzakhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16417430593017226023noreply@blogger.com
