I think the reason I'm not too bothered by Keillor's periodic reliance on stereotypes and light tribalism is that it seems insignificant next to his overarching humanism. Whenever he makes some silly throw away joke about Lutherans or Norwegians that your dentist might tell you, I'm never like 'That is EXACTLY like Lutherans!'. Besides, I've never really thought about his work as 'message' work. He constructs honest, lighthearted humanistic stories.Spencer Troxellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03750605353914336538noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8179545922823777870.post-49478990487807095462009-08-07T07:26:47.796-04:002009-08-07T07:26:47.796-04:00I almost forgot, thank you for the the link.I almost forgot, thank you for the the link.Willie Yhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13947859182677829335noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8179545922823777870.post-68648267187437069192009-08-07T07:24:17.019-04:002009-08-07T07:24:17.019-04:00Hello, Lake Woebegone is a fictional place. The first state fair I ever attended wasjust a year ago. Maine has many state fairs and they are just as Mr Keillor discribes them. I had my first and only deep fried snickers bar, and it was stroke-a-licious.Willie Yhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13947859182677829335noreply@blogger.com
