The Ride

Yachty is a literal fucking baby. He’s 25 years old. I work at an agency that serves youth from the age of 18-24, so more or less one year ago he aged out of eligibility for the services my agency offers. I am a grizzled, almost 42 year old social worker who has experienced things that would make war veterans self delete. BUT SOMEHOW this young man creates my go-to song to decompress after experiencing difficulties. This song (and amazing album) has only been out for a little while, but I have already leaned on it so heavily just to keep my shit straight. The line ‘Don’t ask no questions on the ride’…I think that’s what I find healing/humbling (echoes of Hunter Thompson’s ‘Buy the ticket, take the ride) But it’s also a fucking jam. The kids are alright.
