ReplyDeleteBecause people paint Dawkins as some kind of arrogant, close-minded, militant jerk, when in reality what he advocates is far more humble than the people who paint him that way (His stance: claim knowledge only of what we can actually prove. Theirs: Claim knowledge of things that are impossible to prove). Even though I know that characterization of him is wrong, it's still prevalent, so it rubs off.

ReplyDeleteAnother thing that is surprising about this quote (in a funny way) is that Dawkins gives a potential God more credit than many believers seem to. He appreciates what a game changer the discovery of a creator would be.
