Birds

Regardless of some of the terrible things many of us do to one another (and some of the terrible things we believe), most humans seem to be united in an appreciation for birds: The graceful and apparently miraculous structure of their wings, the stunning variety of song, and the ability to seemingly rise above it all, surrendering themselves to the conflicting drafts in the higher atmosphere. The bird has sunk into our collective unconscious as a symbol of freedom. A symbol of what could be attained, if only.

Consequentially, I find it informative that birds seem to enjoy pooping on statues.

  2. There is a picture of the previous pope on google images that you can find if you type in "pope bird poop" that looks like he is being attacked by a dove. He has his tongue out, and looks fearful, like he knew this day might come.

I had to think harder than I usually think about my blog posts about whether or not I should include that image right before the very final bird statue. I decided not to, because it might obscure my meaning, and I still think I have a good shot a sainthood (if I play my cards right).

  3. Yeah, I had a similar issue in my most recent Roadkill post. Was going to include a particualr image but then thought it might be a bit too gruesome and ultimately detract from the post. It all works together, no? Thats what I love about the blogs--writing, pics, vids all working together. Stay well!
