Joe Lovano 'Folk Art'

"Us Five", from Joe Lovano's Folk Art:

This CD has been blowing my mind lately. I think it's Lovano's best.

Get a copy, if you're into this sort of thing:

  1. Got a little Roland Kirk thing going there, eh? Haven't seen that instrument before. But this band's been gigging here. Think that's James Spaulding's daughter on bass (but might have to fact-check that). She's pretty hot. Like that Eryka Badu 'from she's kicking. Nice clip Spence.

  2. Yeah. The bass player's killing it here. I really like this group, especially after watching clips of them playing together. You should go see them so I can live vicariously through you.

  3. Did you like that Dave Douglas pic from last month? I just saw Lovano with Bill Frisell and Paul Motian about a week before that Douglas pic was taken. I must've seen that trio a half-dozen times now. Still, never saw Lovano play that double-sided stick before. Very cool. Like that clip a lot.

By the way, Lovano's from Cleveland, no? So Im sure you must see him from time to time.

  4. I didn't know Lovano was from Cleveland.

I'm kind of a homebody these days, and I've never really been someone to hit the clubs. If he's been through, I've never caught him.
