As I approach 30...

I find I have much more appreciation for this:

A happy vicar I might have been
Two hundred years ago
To preach upon eternal doom
And watch my walnuts grow;

But born, alas, in an evil time,
I missed that pleasant haven,
For the hair has grown on my upper lip
And the clergy are all clean-shaven”

~ From 'Why I Write', by George Orwell.

  1. I resent Orwell b/c they made us read all of his books in high school.

  2. They made you read 'Down And Out In Paris And London' in High School? I find that hard to believe, but if so, good on them. You're better off.

  3. Orwell I would have loved. We had to read Silas Marner.

  4. I feel you Willie, but nothing is worse than Lord Of The Flies.
